| For Each Excursion,
A Different Logbook
Depending on what kind of excursion you're
planning, you will need different equipment and you
will make different observations. For example, strolling
down the streets of a city involves different kinds
of shoes, of baggage or of maps than climbing
a mountain! The same can be said about the excursion
notebook.
Exploration involves the personal discovery
of an unfamiliar place, or to a destination where you
have never been. With this type of excursion, you may
want to write down any information that will help you
reach a specific trip-related goal, or on the other
hand, find your way back!
Travels are, in general, longer trips
to a far-away, pre-determined destination. Notebooks
in these cases often involve narratives of day to day
activities in order for you to remember and share every
with others upon return. Travel journals are also an
excellent way of remembering that rare flower, wonderful
marketplace or haunting street music.
Observation excursions are usually of
a more specialized nature because they planned around
specific activities. For example, if you decide to collect
tree leaves in the forest to make a herbarium, than you
will need an observation notebook suitable for logging
the specific data relevant to your activity. In such
a case, you might indicate the location of a tree, it's
environment, height and trunk diameter, and health...
Leisure excursions are generally shorter
outings with purely entertaining goals! In this case,
you would create what can be called a leisure notebook.
In it, you could list all the restaurants you want to
try, and them rate them. Such observations can be applied
to any sort of leisure destination, be they beaches,
amusement parks, campgrounds... A leisure notebook can
also be used to describe the relationships with all
the fascinating people you meet. |
